What is KED365?

KINDNESS • EVERY • DAY •

The boys and I are launching a Kindness program for kids, teenagers and adults. And it’s all about KINDNESS! There are so many ways, big and small, that we can choose to show and spread a little kindness each day. In doing for others, we grow and inspire. One of my top values of PeakJoy and in life, is to JUST BE KIND.

It all began when we would go to Toys R Us. Right at the EXIT there stood the multiple, shiny, cool machines filled with goodies that catch every kids’ attention. Candy, small toys, rings, collector items and oh so much more! Generally, if they asked, the answer was no. Sometimes bribery got the better of me and a quarter for a peaceful shopping trip didn’t seem like a bad bargain. But then, we started something different.

I gave the boys 50 cents each and told them that they had to choose the machine that held the item they wanted most and had to leave the quarters for the next boy or girl that came out of the store. To my surprise there was no whining or arguing. They found joy and pleasure in the idea of another child getting a surprise. We talked about the possible circumstances of who might find the quarters and how they would feel if they were the ones to find quarters on a machine. So the tradition began. Before we would visit Toys R Us, they would be sure to grab a couple of quarters that they could leave on the machines.

This one act of kindness inspired us to come up with a list (and it’s getting pretty long) of the different ways each day we can choose to be kind. Some are simple like holding a door for someone, picking up a piece of trash or giving a compliment. Others involve more planning. We are working on a “vlog” and music video (because the boys REALLY want that to be a part of this project) so STAY TUNED.

In the meantime, we hope that you join us in choosing KED365 and making a little splash of kindness somewhere in your world today!
